Photos of Khutsot Hayotser in Jerusalem and Kaveret/Poogy!! Concert Videos

Hi Everyone!

Tuesday night, I visited the Jerusalem Khutsot Hayotser Arts and Crafts Festival in the Sultan's Pool outside the Old City.
I have not been to the festival in many years and it was very nice.
I posted photos online at:
www.history-of-israel.co.il/jerusalem/2017/jer528.htm

In addition to the arts and crafts, each night there is a musical event featuring well know performers. The brochure of the festival noted that "Dani, Gidi and Friends" would be performing on Tuesday night. I did not realize who they were. While walking around in the food court, I suddenly heard a very familiar song. We rushed over to the concert area and thousands of fans were having a great time.
On stage were the members of Kaveret - Poogy. It was great!
I took several videos and posted them at:
www.jr.co.il/videos/jerusalem-khutsot-hayotser-2017.htm

I found a very good location on a staircase platform and took the first video of "Lichvod Hakaitz".
While filming the second video of "Khalalit", security came and told us to get off the platform. I kept filming while walking down the staircase. Based on the lyrics at that point of the song, it looks like I was taking a ride on the "spaceship".

I walked out of the concert to the exhibition area and on the way back I decided to look for closer place to film. I found an area to the left of the stage which had a good view. The third video has three songs including the classic "Magapayim Shel Baruch" - Baruch's Boots.
Unfortunately, several people were talking right near my camera but it was the last song of the concert and I think you will like it nonetheless.
Enjoy and please share with friends.

Have a good night,
Jacob

Educational Resources about Tisha B'Av

Shalom.

Tisha B'Av is the saddest day on the Jewish calendar because of the incredible series of tragedies which occurred on that
date throughout Jewish History.

Tisha B'Av means "the ninth of the Hebrew month of Av". Tisha B'Av primarily commemorates the destruction of the first and second Temples, both of which were destroyed on the ninth of Av - the first by the Babylonians in 586 B.C.E.; the second by the Romans in 70 C.E.

Although this day is primarily meant to commemorate the destruction of the Temple, it is appropriate to consider on
this day the many other tragedies of the Jewish people, many of which occurred on this day, most notably the expulsion of
the Jews from Spain in 1492.

This year 5777 - 2017, we observe the fast day of Tisha B'Av starting from Monday after nightfall, July 31, until nightfall on Tuesday, August 1.

You can learn more about this Jewish fast day at:
www.jr.co.il/hotsites/tisha-b-av.htm

May we see the rebuilding of the Temple in our days and that Tisha B'Av becomes a day of celebration.

If you are fasting:
Have a meaningful fast.

Videos and photos of the International Festival of Light in Jerusalem

Hi Everyone!

Last night, I went to the opening night of the International Festival of Light exhibition in the Old City of Jerusalem.

The exhibition is open from 8:00pm to 11:00pm till July 6. I did not get to view all the light exhibits. Expect to spend at
least 2-3 hours walking around. If you have limited time, make sure to view exhibit #22 called Solaris at the Hurva Square.
I took a video of this unique audio-visual display which was projected on the side wall of the Hurva Synagogue in the Jewish Quarter.

In addition to the Festival of Light, outside the Old City walls near Yaffo Gate there was a special light and audio show in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem. I took a video of the first part which includes a brief history of Jerusalem.

I posted three videos and a link to the photos at:

night May 14 instead of Saturday night. Israeli school vacation for Lag Ba’omer has been postponed by one day, from Sunday, May 14 to Monday, May 15. If you are flying over Israel on Sunday night (May 14) and you look down out of your plane, you will see thousands of bonfires dotting the landscape as far as the eye can see. There are various customs and explanations for these celebrations.

I posted on my website 40 links to learn about "Lag Ba'Omer".

Backup Tutorial - How to backup your Facebook, Google, Linkedin accounts, email, bookmarks, phone contacts, and more

Hi Everyone!

Many people think of backups after something bad happens to their computer, tablet, cell phone or other digital device.
All it takes is 5-10 minutes a week and you can save yourself big headaches if something unexpected happens to your digital world.

When was the last time you backed up your Facebook, Google and Linkedin accounts? Many people do not even know you can back them up.

Do you have a copy of the contact / phone list in your cell phone? You have loads of photos that you took on your last vacation.
Did you copy them on to your computer or disk-on-key? What would happen if you lose your cell phone today?

On your old computer's hard disk there are anniversary photos that have never been backed up and are irreplaceable.
Why wait till it is too late?

This week, I created a backup tutorial that will help you backup your valuable data. The initial tutorial covers 8 topics and
I may add more in the near future.

The tutorial address is:
www.jr.co.il/training/backup-tutorial.htm

Feedback is welcome!

Please share, thank you!
